The ReCAAP ISC collates and analyses the information concerning piracy and armed robbery against ships submitted by the ReCAAP Focal Points and other relevant organisations. This information is published in the form of monthly, quarterly and annual reports which identify patterns and trends, highlight good practices and recommend preventive measures. The ReCAAP ISC and ReCAAP Focal Points also provide regular alerts on incidents to the maritime community.

The ReCAAP ISC adopts the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) definition of piracy and the International Maritime Organisation's Code of Practice for the Investigation of Armed Robbery against Ships.
